New batch kiln investment removes a key production bottleneck and supports JPJ-Wood’s continued growth Finnish sawmill company JPJ-Wood Oy is investing in two new forklift-loaded batch kilns from Valutec as part of its continued production development. The investment will strengthen JPJ-Wood’s drying operations and support the company’s plans to increase sawn timber production.

Vida continues to invest in the future. Valutec has now been awarded an order for two OTC continuous kilns for the Vida Bruza sawmill in Hjältevad, Sweden. The investment will provide drying capacity of approximately 120 000m3 /55 000 MBF per year and forms an important part of Vida’s strategy for continued production growth and long-term expansion.
Valutec, long the leading supplier of continuous kilns in the DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland), has secured its first batch kiln deal through an order for four units from a leading industry player in the region. The deal marks a clear breakthrough and strengthens Valutec’s position as a technology leader in industrial wood drying.
Tests conducted for Hancock Lumber at Pleasant River’s sawmill in Enfield show that Valutec can reduce drying times for Eastern White Pine by 50%—without compromising quality. In cooperation with Pleasant River Lumber, the lumber was dried in just 84 hours, compared to the 160 hours currently required in Hancock Lumber's existing kilns.

2025 has been a year characterized by meetings between people—meetings that have created perspective, knowledge, and confidence in the future during a time often described as uncertain, both in terms of raw material supply and market development. We have also met Maritime Kiln Dryers Association in North America, at the Deutsche Holzkongress in Germany, and during training sessions in Sweden. Each location has had its own conditions, yet the discussions have centered on the same fundamental questions: efficiency, quality, and the future.
