John Karbin appointed new CEO of Valutec

On August 1, John Karbin will assume the role of CEO at Valutec, a world leader in lumber drying for the sawmill industry. John is currently Head of Automation and has worked at the company for 22 years. He succeeds Robert Larsson, who will continue to work with business development for both Valutec and its parent company Addtech.

“It is an honor to step into the role as CEO of Valutec, a company characterized by both a strong focus on quality and high competence,” says John.

He continues:
“As part of the management team, I have been involved in the journey we have made together. Robert has been a key driving force in continuously moving our position forward by developing both our offering and our markets. We will build on that, and I look forward to taking over in August,” says John.

John Karbin will also continue in his role as Head of Automation. He succeeds Robert Larsson who, during 23 years with the company – the last 13 as CEO – has seen turnover grow from around SEK 100 million to nearly SEK 800 million. A large part of this growth has come through increased exports, particularly to Central Europe and North America, which are now major markets for Valutec.

Starting in August, Robert Larsson will work with sales and development at Valutec as well as business development at parent company Addtech.
“My colleagues at Valutec combine independence with the ability to take great personal responsibility, which has enabled me as CEO to focus on the future. These years have been truly rewarding, but I feel that the time is right to hand over to John, who will do an excellent job. For my own part, it will be inspiring to use my experience both as a continued part of Valutec and in business development at Addtech,” says Robert.

Valutec offers a comprehensive portfolio within lumber drying for the sawmill industry. This includes everything from an extensive product line of kilns to advanced control systems and unique process expertise.
“At the heart of our business is the design and production of lumber kilns of truly high quality. We have combined that with the technical expertise and curiosity required to develop advanced control systems and a strong service offering. Together, this makes everyday life at the sawmill smoother, safer and more profitable,” says John.
